The Rusty Nail

Ardmore, PA

with Unlucky Mamals, Clockwork Stenographer, Problem Addict (ft. Andrew Mann)

8pm | $10 | 21+

Il Shim was traveling around South East Asia, so local hero and highschool pal Jonas Oesterle joined us on drums for this one. Problem Addict, Clockwork Stenographers, and Unlucky Mammals were are really great. Our friend Shelly filmed the set, and I have that somewhere to chop up and post. The venue was very generous; I highly reccomend setting up and playing a show there.

Open Sound Lansdowne

Lansdowne, PA

with A Summer Storm, Amelia Cry Til I Die!

7pm | FREE | All Ages

Opensound Landsdowne is an outside DIY venue adjacent to a bank parking lot and just across the street from an old town theater. A cool late summer breeze blew through as the sun retreated over the horizon. Does that description help set the crisp and moody atmosphere? It was indeed a neat place to play herky-jerky indie-rock songs to a crowd of curious locals... and friends traveling the short distance from Philly.

A night of sooo many bands covering Thomas Petty songs during a snow storm. No one in DSL would claim to be a TP fan, but we had fun learning these songs. I scoured his discography for a deepcut and stumbled on Fault Lines. I reccomend that tune for sure. You can hear our take of I Need to Know here.

I wanted to play a Bowie tribute night at the Fire back in the early 2000's with my previous band Mini Band, unfortunately that didn't work out, but I eventually recorded a take on Fashion. Rips Dave.

We practiced a few songs until we landed on our setlist. It's always great hearing what people do with their covers at shows like this.

This was a classic show at the Fire. This is my favorite poster i've ever made, and I printed a few extra. If you want one, let me know. Nat, Caroline and I got pizza next door, and it continues to be fine. We soundchecked with 'If you've got a problem' which I think is a good soundcheck song. Mark and Nat disagree.

North Star Bar

Philadelphia, PA

with Hey Rosetta!, The Heat Run, Acres Of Diamonds

9pm | $8 | 21+

Great to be back at the Northstar, a tucked away gem in a funny little pocket of the city. The night featured a great crowd, with plenty of dancing. Great job, you [probably]! It was great to witness a sea of movement from the stage admist our herky jerky stop and starts. The greenroom was crowded, but that didn't matter as all the bands were exceeding nice to be around.

Thanks to In Grenada for setting up this show. South Philly folks that got to see us for the first time, thanks for stopping out. Connies Ric Rac is BYOB, so DSL had a pre-game at the bar next door, and so did some friends who were back and forth between the two spots. Very fun.

A DSL Believe EP release party with the magnificent Spinto Band headlining the evening. We were joined by our other awesome friends Paper Masques. This show was a blast. The Bunker at Y-not Radio

Philadelphia, PA

Multiple broadcasts aired, unfortunately I can't find it in their archives. I recorded it, and if I ever remember, I'll upload... bug me about it. DSL performed an unnaturally weird stripped down set in the Bunker (Josh's living room) to promote our EP release show with the Spinto Band and Paper Masques. We DJ'd some of our favorite songs recorded by local bands. Also, Josh asked us questions, and we nervously answered them. Very cool. I would rate this experience a 5 out of 7. [Editors note: that's a fairly old meme reference rating scale... which translates to a perfect score!]

The Fire

Philadelphia, PA

with Paper Masques, Brian Ashby

9pm | $7 | 21+

Our First live show with the full band set-up: Claire, Nat, Mike S, and Mike B. Awesome show with good buddies. Jonas suggested we play with Paper Masques... since he drums for them and all. Then he suggested Brian Ashby (the Teeth, Purples, Squawk Brothers... etc) open up the show. Excellent suggestions, Jonas. You bought him a beer, right? Friend of the band, Rob Shomper, made his way from China just to see us play. Merch master Mark Evans sold out all our stuff. Thanks Mark!
